LG Energy Solution announced the latest progress of its two power battery factories in the United States in April this year. One of them is a joint venture with General Motors, called Ultium Cells Plant 2, located in Spring Hill, Tennessee, USA. The factory began delivering the first batch of batteries to customers two and a half years after construction began. General Motors and LG Energy Solution plan to invest in three battery factories in Ohio, Tennessee and Michigan, with a total investment of US$7.475 billion and a total battery production capacity of more than 130GWh. The other factory is a wholly-owned factory in Arizona, with an estimated investment of US$5.5 billion and a planned production capacity of 53GWh, including 36GWh of 46 series cylindrical batteries for electric vehicles and 17GWh of lithium iron phosphate soft-pack batteries for energy storage systems.
