After a fierce bidding process, Tesla successfully won the bid for the project of Contact Energy, a diversified energy company in New Zealand, and will be responsible for providing commissioning and long-term maintenance services. In addition, the cooperation agreement also includes an option to expand the capacity of the energy storage site to 130MW in the future. The two parties will build a 100MW battery energy storage facility in Glenbrook, New Zealand, with an investment of up to US$163 million. This energy storage facility will provide more than two hours of winter peak electricity demand for 44,000 households.
