BYD Thailand factory completed, celebrating the 8 millionth new energy vehicle off the production line

On July 4, BYD's Thailand factory was completed and the 8 millionth new energy vehicle, the Dolphin model, rolled off the assembly line. The factory was built in just 16 months and has an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. BYD has become the world's first automaker to reach this milestone. Thailand's Minister of Industry praised BYD's contribution to new energy vehicles and said it would promote the development of industries in Thailand and the ASEAN region. BYD plans to launch more pure electric and plug-in hybrid models in the future to help transform Thailand's automotive industry chain. BYD's Thailand factory is the brand's first overseas passenger car factory, which was signed with WHA Volkswagen Co., Ltd. on September 8, 2022. It is located in an industrial zone in Rayong Province in eastern Thailand, with an investment of 35 billion baht, or about 6.948 billion yuan.
