Korean manufacturers slow down their pace in CIS market

Earlier this year, SK Hynix reorganized its CIS team, shifting its strategic focus from expanding market share to developing high-end products. In the past, SK Hynix had a small scale in the CIS field, focusing mainly on low-end and mid-range CIS with a resolution of 20MP or less. However, due to poor unit prices and shipments, SK Hynix has been reducing its CIS production and inventory. On the other hand, Samsung plans to stop using its own GN3 sensor in its Galaxy S25 and S25+ models and adopt Sony's CIS solution. In addition, as the competition between Samsung and SK Hynix in the HBM field intensifies, both companies have invested more resources and energy in this key area.
