South Korea's Samsung SDI signs 6.3GWh energy storage system supply contract with US NextEra

According to news on July 4, South Korea's Samsung SDI has signed a contract with the US energy supplier NextEra Energy to supply energy storage systems worth up to one trillion won. The contract involves a 6.3GWh energy storage system and is known as the largest energy storage contract in South Korea's history. Samsung SDI will provide its Samsung Battery Box 1.5 (SBB 1.5) energy storage system for the project, which is a 20-foot container energy storage system with a capacity of 5.26MWh. It has higher space utilization and energy density than existing products, an increase of 37%. The SBB 1.5 energy storage system uses NCA ternary batteries.
