GlobalFoundries has signed a long-term agreement with General Motors, and the US government has also provided it with a $1.5 billion subsidy. The funds will be used to build a new semiconductor production facility in Malta, New York, and expand existing operations in Malta and Burlington, Vermont. At the same time, BAE Systems has also established a partnership with GlobalFoundries to strengthen the supply of semiconductors for US national security projects. The two parties will cooperate in research and development in a range of areas, including advanced semiconductor packaging and integration, silicon-based gallium nitride, etc.
