Absolics plans to build a second glass substrate plant with an annual production capacity of 72,000 square meters, with an estimated investment of more than $400 million. SKC established Absolics, a cooperative company for semiconductor packaging glass substrates, with semiconductor equipment company APPLIDE Materials (AMAT) in 2021. Under the CHIPS Act, the US government provided a $75 million subsidy to Absolix Covington's first glass substrate plant in Georgia.
