BYD announces investment of 6.5 billion yuan to build Phase III of Shenzhen-Shantou Automobile Industrial Park

BYD signed an agreement with Shenzhen Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone to invest 6.5 billion yuan to build the third phase of the Shenshan BYD Automotive Industrial Park project, which mainly produces core parts for new energy vehicles. In August 2021, BYD invested 5 billion yuan for the first time to build the first phase of the Shenshan BYD Automotive Industrial Park project; in January 2022, it invested another 20 billion yuan to build the second phase project, positioning it as a complete vehicle manufacturing base; in October 2022, the first phase project was put into production; in December 2023, the first phase project was fully put into production; in March 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved the relocation and expansion of the Shenzhen New Energy Passenger Vehicle Factory of BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd.; in June 2024, the second phase of the west plot reached full production, with a daily production capacity of 750 vehicles. BYD's first and second phase projects took only one year from the start of construction to the start of production, and are now fully operational, solving the employment problems of 14,000 people. The second phase project plans to invest a total of 20 billion yuan, and some plots have been put into production, solving the employment problems of 9,000 people.
