Hua Hong Semiconductor and Star Semiconductor jointly develop automotive-grade IGBT chips and mass-produce 12-inch IGBTs

The two parties jointly announced that the high-power automotive-grade IGBT (insulated gate bipolar transistor) chips jointly developed have passed the product verification of terminal car companies and have been widely used in the automotive application market such as power units. During the years of cooperation, Hua Hong Semiconductor and Star Semiconductor have devoted themselves to the research and development and production of IGBTs in many fields such as automotive electronics, inverters, inverter welding machines, UPS, photovoltaic/wind power generation, and white appliances. At present, a series of products with multiple voltages such as 650V, 750V, 950V, 1200V, and 1700V have passed the end-customer assessment and achieved mass production. The cumulative shipments of IGBTs from the cooperation between the two parties have exceeded 250,000 equivalent 8-inch wafers. Hua Hong Semiconductor's "8-inch + 12-inch" four factories have all passed the IATF 16949 automotive quality management system certification. At present, Hua Hong Semiconductor's 12-inch IGBT output has exceeded 10,000 wafers, and all electrical parameters have maintained excellent levels. Star Semiconductor is the only domestic IGBT module supplier that ranks among the top 10 in the world. In 2020, automotive-grade IGBT modules produced using its own chips were used in more than 200,000 vehicles in the global market. Star Semiconductor is constantly breaking through and accumulating key technologies for next-generation power semiconductor devices, striving to achieve leapfrog development.
