Following the establishment of electric vehicle production centers by well-known automakers such as General Motors, Nissan and Volkswagen in Tennessee, South Korean battery supplier LG Energy Solution has also established two new factories here. The two factories are Ultium Cells' second factory and LG Chem's cathode material factory. Ultium Cells' second factory is located in Spring Hill, Tennessee, about 60 kilometers from the state capital Nashville. This is LG Energy Solution's second power battery factory in the United States. The area of the factory is approximately equivalent to 35 football fields, about 257,000 square meters. The annual production target of the factory is 50 GWh, enough to provide batteries for 600,000 pure electric vehicles. The batteries produced by it will power General Motors' new third-generation electric vehicles, Cadillac's luxury electric vehicle Lyric and Chevrolet Equinox. Ultium Cells' second factory has been fully operational since March this year and is expected to achieve a 90% yield within one month of mass production.
