In April 2022, Wolfspeed's 200mm SiC device manufacturing plant with leading-edge technology in Mohawk Valley, New York, USA, officially opened, which will greatly help promote the transformation of many industries from Si-based products to SiC-based semiconductors. The Mohawk Valley device factory has begun shipping SiC MOSFETs in batches to Chinese end customers, with the first batch of product models being C3M0040120K. In September 2022, Wolfspeed announced that it would build a new SiC material manufacturing plant (the John Palmour Silicon Carbide Manufacturing Center) with leading-edge technology in Chatham County, North Carolina, USA. This factory will mainly manufacture 200mm SiC wafers, which will be used to supply the Wolfspeed Mohawk Valley device factory. The first phase of the factory is expected to be completed in 2024, and the company will also expand additional production capacity based on demand. This investment plan will increase Wolfspeed's existing SiC material production capacity by more than 10 times and accelerate the adoption of SiC semiconductors in a range of terminal markets. In February 2023, Wolfspeed announced plans to build a highly automated, cutting-edge 200mm SiC manufacturing plant in Saarland, Germany. This will be Wolfspeed's first plant in Europe to support the growing demand for a wide range of applications such as automotive, industrial, and energy. Wolfspeed's 200mm SiC device plant in Mohawk Valley, New York, will become an important part of Wolfspeed's $6.5 billion capacity expansion plan, along with the SiC material plant in North Carolina and the planned 200mm SiC manufacturing plant in Saarland, Germany.
