Toyota's electric vehicle battery plant officially opens in North Carolina

Toyota, the world's largest automaker, is trying to catch up with rivals such as Tesla and BYD in the electric vehicle sector. On February 5, Toyota announced that its $14 billion electric vehicle battery factory in North Carolina officially began operations. The factory will produce batteries for Toyota's electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) and hybrid vehicles, and will create approximately 5,000 jobs.
