LG Energy Solution will provide upgraded 2170 batteries for Tesla's new Model Y

LG Energy Solution announced that it will provide an upgraded version of the 2170 battery for Tesla's new Model Y. The cell capacity of the new battery has been increased to 5300 mAh, a 6% increase from the previous 5000 mAh. This ternary lithium (NCM) battery will be produced at LG's factory in Nanjing and supplied to the Shanghai Super Factory. Due to the lack of battery production facilities near the Berlin Super Factory, the new Model Y produced in Germany will also use battery packs assembled in Shanghai.
