Leapmotor CEO Zhu Jiangming is reserved about self-developed smart driving chips

Zhu Jiangming, founder, chairman and CEO of Leapmotor, recently publicly stated that he believes it is not appropriate for automakers to develop their own intelligent driving chips. He said that due to the relatively small production of automobiles, the investment in chip research and development is too large, requiring at least hundreds of millions of yuan. He suggested that automakers should focus on algorithm research and development, while leaving the design and production of chips to more professional companies.
