TSMC issues supply cut notice to mainland chip design companies

TSMC has officially issued a supply cut notice to many chip design companies in mainland China, strictly restricting the use of 16nm and 14nm processes. Starting from January 31, 2025, if the relevant products of 16/14nm and below processes are not packaged by the "approved OSAT" in the whitelist, and TSMC has not received a copy of the certification signature of the packaging factory, these products will be suspended from shipment. This move is a reflection of TSMC's close cooperation with the latest US export control ban.
