Cruise, General Motors' self-driving car subsidiary, recently announced that it will lay off about 50% of its employees, involving ordinary employees and executive teams. The layoffs are part of a plan to stop the driverless taxi service and aim to reinvest operational resources into the company's broader business. As of the end of 2024, Cruise had nearly 2,300 employees, which means that the number of layoffs will exceed 1,100.
