US lidar company Cepton acquired by Japanese automotive supplier Koito

Cepton, a well-known American LiDAR company, signed a final agreement on July 29 to be acquired by Koito, a Japanese automotive Tier 1 supplier and shareholder. According to the agreement, Koito will acquire all issued shares in an all-cash transaction at a price of US$3.17 per share. After the transaction is completed, Cepton will operate as a privately held indirect subsidiary of Koito in the United States. Cepton and Koito have been working together since 2017 to industrialize high-performance LiDAR solutions for mass-market vehicles, smart infrastructure and industrial applications.
