Microsoft's cloud services have a long history of cooperation with major automakers and smart driving companies. In 2018, Microsoft and Volkswagen jointly developed the "Volkswagen Automotive Cloud". In January 2021, Microsoft reached a long-term strategic cooperation agreement with Cruise, a self-driving company under General Motors. Microsoft and Honda and other companies jointly invested $2 billion in Cruise and used the cloud computing platform Azure to provide support for Cruise.
