Intel's foundry business

Another big bet Intel has made recently is on its foundry business. It has three factories in the United States and three factories overseas for manufacturing semiconductor chips, and other factories in Asia and Latin America for testing and assembly. But the business had a rocky start; for example, Intel refused to invest in cost-effective extreme ultraviolet machines for its manufacturing plants, and then had to outsource 30% of its manufacturing operations to competitor TSMC.
