Liang Wenfeng founded DeepSeek, leading a new era of AI quantitative trading

In 2002, Liang Wenfeng was admitted to Zhejiang University, majoring in electronic information engineering, and obtained a bachelor's and master's degree from the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering. In 2010, he obtained a master's degree in information and communication engineering. In 2013, he co-founded Hangzhou Jacobi Investment Management Co., Ltd. with his Zhejiang University classmate Xu Jin. In 2015, he founded Hangzhou Huanfang Technology Co., Ltd. On October 21, 2016, Huanfang Quantitative launched its first AI model, which realized the online execution of trading positions generated by deep learning and used GPU for calculation. In 2017, Huanfang Quantitative claimed that its investment strategy had been fully AI-based. In 2019, Liang Wenfeng led his team to independently develop the "Firefly No. 1" training platform, with a total investment of nearly 200 million yuan and equipped with 1,100 GPUs. Two years later, the investment in "Firefly No. 2" increased to 1 billion yuan, equipped with about 10,000 NVIDIA A100 graphics cards. In 2021, Huanfang's asset management scale exceeded 100 billion yuan, becoming one of the "Four Heavenly Kings" in the field of domestic quantitative private equity. In 2023, he announced that he would officially enter the field of general artificial intelligence and founded DeepSeek, focusing on the research and development of truly human-level artificial intelligence. In July 2023, Huanfang Quantitative announced the establishment of the large model company DeepSeek, officially entering the field of general artificial intelligence, with Liang Wenfeng as the founder. In May 2024, DeepSeek released the hybrid expert language model DeepSeek-V2. In December of the same year, DeepSeek-V3 was launched. This large language model with superior performance and extremely high cost performance was praised by Silicon Valley peers as "the mysterious power from the East."
