TSMC halts Blackwell chip production due to design flaws

According to people familiar with the matter, TSMC discovered a design defect on the bare die connecting two Blackwell GPUs while preparing for mass production of Nvidia's Blackwell series AI chips. This defect may lead to reduced chip yield or output. As a result, TSMC had to suspend the mass production plan of the Blackwell chip and cooperate with Nvidia for new trial production. Nvidia said that its Blackwell chip samples have begun widespread trial use and it is expected to increase mass production in the second half of the year.
