Since its establishment in 1995, Continental's automotive sub-group has undergone many acquisitions and reorganizations. For example, it acquired Alfred Teves' automotive brake and chassis business in 1998, acquired Temic in 2001 to expand its automotive electronics business, and acquired Siemens VDO in 2007.
