SAIC-GM Norinco Automobile Plant to be closed with 2,000 employees

SAIC-GM (Shenyang) Beisheng Automotive Co., Ltd., a company with 2,000 employees, is reportedly closing. The plant has been in operation since 2004 and is one of SAIC-GM's four major production bases in China. It mainly produces GL8 "Land Business Class", Buick GL8 (Lu Zun/New Lu Zun), Buick Envision, Buick Envision and other models. SAIC-GM said that they are conducting in-depth communication and consultation with relevant parties at the Beisheng base to ensure the proper placement of all parties including suppliers and base employees, and to ensure a smooth transition of the capacity adjustment process to reduce the impact on the local economy and community.
