FTC files charges against General Motors

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently accused General Motors and its vehicle safety and security system OnStar of collecting, using and selling precise location data and driving behavior information of millions of car drivers without adequately informing consumers and obtaining their consent. The FTC issued a proposed order prohibiting General Motors from selling such data to consumer reporting agencies for the next five years.
