Infineon Technologies and Vitesco Technologies collaborate to apply GaN to automotive DC/DC converters

Infineon Technologies and Vitesco Technologies have collaborated to apply Infineon’s CoolGaN™ 650V transistor products to automotive DC/DC converters to increase their power density and reduce system costs. This GaN-based transistor offers significant advantages in high-frequency switching applications, minimizing heat losses and overall system losses. Vitesco Technologies plans to develop a Gen5+GaN Air DC/DC converter with passive cooling, with a power of up to 3.6kW and an efficiency of over 96%.
