Founded in 2003, Renesas Electronics was initially formed by the merger of the semiconductor division of Hitachi, Ltd. and the semiconductor division of Mitsubishi Electric, namely Renesas Technology. It was then merged with NEC's DRAM division in 2010 and renamed Renesas Electronics, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Nearly half of Renesas' sales come from the automotive market, with most of its customers being these large Japanese automakers. The company has significant strengths in microcontrollers (MCU), analog power devices and system-on-chip (SoC). By providing professional and reliable innovative embedded design and complete semiconductor solutions, it is widely used in automotive, industrial, infrastructure and IoT applications, successfully enabling billions of connected smart devices.
