Infineon Technologies AG establishes new business unit to integrate sensor and radio frequency technologies

Infineon Technologies AG recently announced that it will create a new business unit that will merge the company's sensor and RF businesses into a dedicated organization to drive its development in the sensor field. The new business unit, called SURF, will become part of the Power and Sensor Systems (PSS) division and will include the previous automotive and multi-market sensing and control businesses. By integrating its sensor and RF expertise, Infineon plans to leverage cost and R&D synergies to accelerate innovation and provide greater value to customers, thereby improving its competitiveness and market strategy. This strategic move is expected to fully leverage the huge market potential of the sensor and RF markets, which are expected to exceed $20 billion by 2027. The new business unit will officially launch on January 1, 2025.
