Stellantis considers using BYD battery cells to cut electric vehicle costs

Stellantis is reportedly considering using battery cells produced by Chinese company BYD to further reduce the prices of its electric vehicles. The move is aimed at bringing the price of affordable small electric cars such as the Citroën ë-C3 and Fiat Grande Panda down to below 20,000 euros. BYD achieves significant economies of scale with its highly integrated supply chain and large-scale production, which may help Stellantis achieve lower cost targets.
