Four innovative applications of UWB technology in electric vehicle charging

With the continuous advancement of ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, its application in the automotive industry is becoming increasingly widespread. UWB is not only used in smart car access control systems, but also expanded to the field of electric vehicle charging. NXP's Trimension™ UWB solution enables four innovative electric vehicle charging methods: manual charging, automatic conductive charging under the vehicle, automatic conductive charging on the side, and wireless charging. These charging methods all rely on the high-precision positioning capability of UWB to ensure the convenience and safety of the charging process. It is expected that by 2025, mainstream automakers will begin to deploy NXP's UWB single-chip devices in their models.
