Ola, an Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, announced on August 18 that it will launch three series of self-developed chips, namely the Bodhi series of AI chips, the Arm-based server CPU Sarv-1, and the edge AI chip Ojas. Ola's CEO Bhavish Aggarwal stressed that it is crucial for India to explore the field of artificial intelligence independently rather than relying on third-party alternatives. The Bodhi series of AI chips are designed for large language model (LMM) inference workloads, of which Bodhi-1 is a mid-to-low-end product and is expected to be launched in 2026. Ola also revealed the next-generation AI chip called Bodhi-2, a more powerful AI chip expected to be available in 2028. It is said that Ola's AI chip (referring to Bodhi 2) has better performance and energy efficiency than Nvidia's GPU, but the specific model is unknown. Ola also released India's first edge AI chip Ojas, which can be used in various applications such as automotive, mobile, and the Internet of Things. Ola plans to deploy the chip in the next generation of electric vehicles. Sarv-1 is a cloud-native server CPU released by Ola, designed specifically for the cloud computing field and is expected to be available in 2026.
