Tyco Electronics to acquire Richards Manufacturing for $2.3 billion

TE Connectivity announced plans to acquire Richards Manufacturing Co, a manufacturer of utility grid products, for approximately $2.3 billion in cash. The move is intended to strengthen the company's position in the electric utility market and seize opportunities arising from the surge in electricity demand. The transaction is expected to be completed in June.
