McLaren and STMicroelectronics Collaborate to Advance Supercar Electrification

McLaren Applied Technologies has collaborated with STMicroelectronics to successfully develop the IPG5 800V silicon carbide inverter for the manufacture of electrified supercars. The inverter uses STMicroelectronics' ACEPACK DRIVE power module, which has the characteristics of high current (over 480A) and low resistance (1.9mΩ), energy efficiency up to 99%, and can extend the driving range by 7%. This collaboration promotes the electrification of high-performance applications in multiple industries such as automobiles, aviation, ships, racing and commercial vehicles.
