According to Bloomberg News, processor giant AMD is considering selling the server manufacturing plant it acquired from ZT Systems. It is reported that AMD has held preliminary negotiations with a number of Taiwanese server foundries, including Compal, Inventec, Pegatron and Wistron, all of which have expressed their intention to acquire. AMD acquired ZT Systems for US$4.9 billion in August 2024, aiming to enhance its capabilities in the field of AI. However, due to concerns about competing with downstream brand customers such as Dell and HPE, AMD decided to sell the server factory. People familiar with the matter revealed that the server manufacturing plant assets that AMD plans to sell are worth between US$3 billion and US$4 billion, and the deal may be announced in the second quarter of this year.
