Intel and chipmaker Broadcom's joint chip testing has suffered a setback, according to people familiar with the matter, marking the failure of Intel's restructuring plan and dealing a blow to the company's efforts to turn losses into profits. Broadcom took back silicon wafers from Intel last month, and after research by engineers and executives, it was found that Intel's 18A manufacturing process is not yet suitable for large-scale production.
