The European Commission announced on Wednesday (February 26) that it had unconditionally approved Nokia's $2.3 billion (about 16.7 billion yuan) acquisition of Infinera, a US optical semiconductor and network equipment manufacturer. Through this acquisition, Nokia will become the second largest supplier in the optical network market, with a 20% market share, second only to a Chinese company. In addition, Nokia will have the opportunity to sell more equipment to large technology companies such as Amazon, Alphabet and Microsoft, which are investing billions of dollars in new data centers to meet the needs of the artificial intelligence boom.
