Mercedes-Benz and Factorial to develop solid-state batteries, aiming to put them into production by 2030

According to reports, automaker Mercedes-Benz and US battery startup Factorial announced that the two parties are working together to develop a solid-state battery called Solstice, which is expected to significantly increase the range of electric vehicles and go into production by 2030. The energy density of this solid-state battery is 450 watt-hours per kilogram, which is about 80% higher than the average battery currently on the market. In 2022, Factorial successfully raised $200 million in financing, with participation from Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and Hyundai Motor.
