Calsonic Kansei and Magneti Marelli merge

In November 2016, the famous American private equity fund KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts) acquired Calsonic Kansei, a supplier of automotive air conditioners and dashboards under Nissan, for $4.5 billion. Two years later, in August 2018, it made another move and spent $6.5 billion to acquire Magneti Marelli, an Italian auto parts manufacturer under Fiat. Private equity fund investor KKR forcibly brought together the serious and rigid Japanese Calsonic Kansei and the free-spirited Italian Magneti Marelli, and created an "Italian-Japanese hybrid" with annual sales of about 15 billion euros. Given that Magneti Marelli is more popular than Calsonic Kansei in the world, the merged group is still named "Marelli", but the color of the logo "M" is changed from dark blue to Calsonic Kansei's light blue to comfort the Japanese.
