Between 2019 and 2024, 69 of the 108 European auto plants (about two-thirds of the total) operated at less than 80% capacity last year, which is considered the minimum threshold for profitable operation in the industry. Among them, four plants in Nissan Spain, Honda UK and Turkey have been completely closed since 2019. In addition, three plants in Audi Belgium, Stellantis UK and Ford Saarlouis have also been confirmed to be closed soon.
