Lumentum's predecessor Uniphase was founded in 1979, and its other predecessor JDS was founded in 1982. In 1999, JDS and Uniphase merged to form JDSU. In August 2015, JDSU was split into two independent listed companies, Lumentum (inheriting the commercial optical products business) and Viavi Solutions (inheriting JDSU's communications business). Lumentum uses its optoelectronic expertise to produce high-performance commercial lasers, with applications in Telecom Transmission and Transport, Datacom, Commercial Laser, and 3D Sensing. Lumentum provides 940nm VCSEL products for 3D sensing applications in smartphones, game consoles, and computers, and is a leader in the 3D sensing industry; it is now expanding the penetration of this technology in mobile devices and other next-generation applications. Lumentum is headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, USA, with more than 30 years of industry experience and is a leader in the field of optical and photonic technologies. Lumentum occupies an important position in the optical communication and commercial laser markets, and its products are widely used in various high-end manufacturing and consumer electronics fields. With the world's leading vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) and edge emitting laser (EEL) technology, it has provided batch products to customers in the fields of industry, communication, data transmission, 3D sensing, etc.
