Under pressure from international tariffs, automakers consider overseas production strategies

Faced with pressure from international tariffs, several automakers are considering opening new production plants outside of China to maintain profits. China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) has suggested that automakers (OEMs) consider exporting knocked-down kits, which allow cars to be exported and assembled without local factories, rather than fully building every part in new manufacturing plants that avoid tariffs.
