According to Korean media reports, Samsung Electronics has decided to withdraw personnel from its Taylor plant in the United States due to persistent problems with 2nm yield. This decision marks a major setback for its advanced foundry business. After repeated delays in the mass production schedule, the mass production time has now been postponed from the original end of 2024 to 2026. Samsung's foundry yield is currently below 50%, especially for processes below 3nm, while TSMC's 3nm process yield is about 60-70%.
