According to reports, Volkswagen Group is planning to close its Nanjing plant in China, which mainly produces Passat and Skoda cars with an annual production capacity of 360,000 vehicles. In addition, Volkswagen is also considering closing another plant in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province that manufactures Skoda models, and adjusting Skoda's marketing strategy and restructuring its dealer network. Some workers at the Nanjing plant may be transferred to the SAIC Volkswagen Yizheng plant, which currently produces the Volkswagen brand's best-selling sedan "Lavida". Volkswagen confirmed that the partners are conducting a strategic review of Skoda after a sharp drop in sales.
