Since the first half of this year, Renault Group has established a research and development team of about dozens of people in Shanghai, China, responsible for the development of a modified electric vehicle. Although the team is affiliated with Renault China's Shanghai branch, it actually reports directly to Renault's French headquarters. Because this newly established R&D team is small in scale, has unclear processes, and does not yet have the ability to independently develop new cars, the design of the entire vehicle project and some supplier selections were outsourced to a domestic third-party company as a whole, while Renault China's R&D team is responsible for management and review. This is the first time that Renault has developed a new car in China, and mass production of the car is expected to be by the end of 2025. Although this car will not be produced or sold in China, Renault Group still hopes to familiarize itself with China's supply chain system through this project and gradually build a Chinese R&D team. In addition, Renault is also actively recruiting software teams in China, and it is expected that the future Chinese R&D and supply system will become the core of Renault's electric vehicle layout.
