Synopsys, an American EDA giant, announced that it would acquire ANSYS, a computer-aided engineering (CAE) and simulation software developer, for $35 billion. This move has attracted widespread attention from the global EDA and semiconductor industries. The main purpose of Synopsys' acquisition is to address the challenges brought about by the transition from single-chip (SoC) to multi-chip systems in chip design, especially the multi-physics simulation (electromagnetic/heat dissipation/stress) required for multiple die interconnection and packaging, as well as the simulation and verification of signal integrity and power integrity. ANSYS is one of the best choices for providing these solutions.
