China plans to issue guidelines for the first time to encourage the use of open-source RISC-V chips nationwide to reduce its reliance on Western technology, according to two people familiar with the matter. The standard was jointly drafted by eight government agencies, including the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the State Intellectual Property Office of China.
