The price of silicon carbide substrates is stable and is expected to be on par with IGBT within five years

According to the latest reports, the international quotation for 6-inch silicon carbide substrates has dropped below US$800, while the domestic quotation has even fallen below US$500. This price is a significant drop compared to last year's market price of over $1,000. With the increase in production capacity and the advent of the 8-inch era, it is expected that material prices will still have room to fall in the future. As the part with the largest cost share in the silicon carbide industry chain, the decline in upstream prices will directly lead to a reduction in costs for downstream device manufacturers. Industry experts predict that in the next five years, the price of silicon carbide devices will be basically the same as that of IGBTs of the same specifications.
