Rivian and Volkswagen Group are working together to advance the development of the electric Golf (ID Golf), which will be one of the first cars equipped with Rivian's advanced software. Volkswagen plans to invest $5.8 billion by 2027. The cooperation is based on Rivian's electrical architecture and software stack, with the goal of creating a "software-defined" electric car, of which Rivian's mid-size car R2 will be the first model to apply this technology. Volkswagen's first ID.EVERY1 equipped with this software will be available in 2027, with a starting price of less than $22,000, and the electric Golf will follow.
