Skoda, a 130-year-old car brand, has decided to lay off 8,200 employees to cope with the cost pressure brought by the transformation. As a Czech car manufacturer under the Volkswagen Group, Skoda plans to expand its electric vehicle product line and plans to achieve an 8% sales growth this year. Skoda CEO Klaus Zellmer said the layoff plan is to optimize operational efficiency while expanding the electric vehicle product line. Currently, Skoda has a total of 41,000 employees worldwide, of which about 8,200 will be laid off.
