Volkswagen announces new electric Golf (MK9) to be launched in 2029

Volkswagen plans to launch its next-generation Golf (MK9) in 2029, and the new car will be fully electric. The new model will be sold alongside the current Mk8 Golf. Volkswagen Group has invested $5.8 billion to develop a new electric architecture in collaboration with Rivian that will significantly simplify the complexity of the existing system, reduce the number of control units, and provide greater flexibility. The first model equipped with this architecture will be the electric version of ID.1, followed by the MK9 Golf, which may also be called "ID. Golf".
