Volkswagen faces huge fine in India, investment environment questioned

Volkswagen was asked to pay $1.4 billion in back taxes in India for unpaid taxes 12 years ago, and the total could be as high as $2.8 billion if potential penalties are included. Volkswagen representatives said that if the full amount of taxes and penalties are paid, it could be a matter of life and death for Volkswagen, and it could even withdraw from the Indian market.
